IT security in automation technology

In the 3-day seminar “IT Security in Automation Technology” you will get to know the current automation systems – from the classic system to the cyber-physical production system in the sense of Industry 4.0. You will apply established methods for secure Industry 4.0 communication with OPC UA to implement Industry 4.0 use cases such as Condition Monitoring, Plug & Work and Optimization. The learned security concepts strengthen and sensitize you for security-critical processes.

The first step is to secure the current technology before new Industry 4.0 solutions are used. You will be given a practical introduction to communication and automation technology and gain a holistic view of Industry 4.0 and its safety-critical aspects – in practical exercises and in theory.
For this purpose, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA in cooperation with the Institute for Industrial Information Technology at the OWL University of Applied Sciences provides a state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure. This training course provides the basics in order to be able to attend further training courses on specific topics relating to IT security in the production environment.

Automation technology, network analysis and protection mechanisms with emphasis on learning by doing: the contents are directly tested and consolidated by practical exercises; ratio of practice to theory about one to one.

The seminar is aimed at employees in the development, operation and planning of industrial automation technology as well as personnel with an IT background who wish to familiarize themselves with industrial automation technology.
